Families advocate for safe crossings

Christian College and Bellbrae Primary  families are advocating for safe crossings on the Great Ocean Road

There is currently no safe way to cross the Great Ocean Road near Bellbrae Primary or Christian College schools.

Families from both schools are working together to let the Department of Transport and Planning, Surf Coast Shire Council and Christian College know that local residents want to be able to cross the Great Ocean Road safely.

Families have been advocating for

  1. Prioritisation and funding of safe passage

  2. Safe crossing at Strathmore East, Strathmore West and Duffields Road Traffic Lights

  3. Installation of electronic speeds signs in the Christian College 40km school zone that operate during school hours

  4. A transparent community consultation process to provide input on design concepts and crossing locations

  5. Construction of crossings tied to completion of the new pathway from Bellbrae to Duffields Road (2024/2025)
